Now that you have a location to store your digital portfolio, you are going to need a way to get your portfolio to your iWeb site. This is why Fetch and other FTP (File Transfer Protocol) programs are so helpful.
Before you start, it's important to know that Fetch does not work on Windows. If you are a Windows user, you can use Internet Explorer to publish your files.
Follow these steps to download Fetch:
- Launch a browser and go to www.fetchsoftworks.com/edstore.
- Sign in with "steam" as the name and "engine" as the password.
- Fill in the information on the form and use "Ball State University" in the "School or Charity" line.
- Click "Continue."
- Click "Submit."
- Click on the "Download Now" button. Minimize this screen; you WILL need it later!
- Click "Continue" on the download box.
- On the window that appears, take the dog icon and drag and drop it on top of the folder immediately to the right. Fetch will begin installing on your computer.
- After it is done installing, click on the hard drive on your desktop (it probably says "Macintosh HD" or something close to that).
- Click on the "Applications" folder in the window that pops up.
- Find the Fetch icon, and click and drag it to the dock.
- Click the Fetch icon that is now in your dock to open the program.
- Click on the "Enter Serial Number" button.
- Enter the serial number and serial number name from the Safari window that you minimized. If you accidentally closed this window, check your email. There should be a second email from Fetch with the serial number and serial number name.
